Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the government is currently working to complete the first phase of the presidential initiative “Haya Karima” and secure the necessary funding to finalize the remaining projects within this phase.

Madbouli made the remarks on Thursday during a meeting aimed at following up on the progress of delivering and operating projects implemented under the first phase of the “Haya Karima” initiative.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of planning and economic cooperation, communications and information technology, housing, finance, petroleum in addition to representatives from the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, the Dar Al-Hekma Engineering Consultancy Company, and officials from the concerned ministries and agencies.

Madbouli said he is keen to make regular field visits to the targeted villages in different governorates to check on the implementation status and monitor the operation of the completed projects, ensuring that services are activated and directly benefit the citizens of these villages.

He added that the initiative has made a significant impact on improving services and quality of life in the targeted villages within the first phase.

He said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed that the first phase be completed quickly in order to begin work on the second phase, with the aim of providing all villages in Egypt with the unprecedented services offered by this initiative.

Cabinet spokesman Mohamed el Homsani said that the meeting reviewed the detailed status of projects implemented under the first phase of the national rural development program “Haya Karima.”

The meeting tackled the projects that were completed in various sectors in each governorate, those still under completion, as well as the status of projects that have been handed over and are now operational.

The spokesman also noted that 75% of the projects that were completed have already been handed over by the executing contracting companies, and the remaining projects are being handed over in phases for operation and service delivery as soon as possible.
