NEW ALAMEIN – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that the government has exerted strenuous effort throughout the past period to ensure the availability of medicines through facilitation of custom release of the imported drugs and raw materials required for their manufacturing.
He added that the release of drugs from ports has contributed to fulfilling the market demand of drugs.
The premier made the remarks during a meeting with Egyptian Drug Authority Chairman Ali Ghamrawy – at the government headquarters in New Alamein City Sunday night – to get posted on availability of drugs in the Egyptian market.
The pharmaceutical industry is of top priority for the government, Madbouli said.
The drug authority exerts utmost efforts to secure medicine, Ghamrawy said, adding that the authority succeeded in boosting the amount of drugs in the market and will be working on securing the remaining types of drugs within few weeks.
The head of the drug authority reviewed cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as efforts aimed at supporting the pharmaceutical industry, in line with the international standards.
