Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Monday held a meeting with Chairman of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company Amr Abdel Wahab, to follow up on the company’s development projects, notably the mega project to reclaim 1.5 million feddans nationwide.

The premier highlighted the importance of this national project in establishing new sustainable urban communities, in which agriculture serves as the main driver of development.

Abdel Wahab briefed the prime minister on the progress made in construction works, setting up utilities and roads and well drilling, as well as the establishment of water desalination plants and electricity networks for this mega project.

The company head said the total cultivated and reclaimed land had reached 440,000 feddans, while the total land areas handed over to beneficiaries stood at 875,000 feddans.

He also added that purchase and legalization procedures were under way for around 192,000 feddans, noting that more than 4,500 companies were operating across various sites of the national project to reclaim 1.5 million feddans.
