Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli received on Saturday a report from Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker on the ministry’s efforts to support and promote the participation of the private sector in renewable energy production.
In the report, Shaker said that the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA) announced it started receiving requests of companies which seek to take part in phase one of projects aimed at producing electric power from renewable sources through the private sector.
The companies are allowed to use the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) grid to sell the produced electric power to new consumers, he added.
Applications are submitted during the period between the beginning of June and until the end of August, according to him.
Shaker added the step is part of implementing directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in this regard.
