CAIRO – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Monday held a meeting to follow up on the efforts of a committee for restructuring economic institutions, in the presence of Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Co-operation Rania el Mashat and Hussein Eissa, the head of the committee’s technical secretariat.

During the meeting, the premier underlined the importance of continuing the reform of economic institutions, with a view to raising their efficiency and increasing their contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), said Spokesman for the Cabinet Mohamed El Homsany.

The spokesman added that the meeting reviewed a detailed report on the efforts made by the committee technical secretariat that has been recently formed to conduct studies on restructuring economic entities.

The planning minister said the first phase of restructuring economic entities is concerned with examining and studying the position of the 59 economic institutions, with the aim of determining the fate of each institution according to a number of alternatives.

Eissa said the second phase will include detailed actual restructuring of each institution in its new status in a way that leads to raising its efficiency and increasing its contribution to the GDP, Eissa said.
