Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt and Algeria share a mutual conviction of the need to increase the volume of trade between the two countries.
He noted that the volume of trade increased by 18% last year, compared to the previous year, reaching dlrs 1 billion. However, both political leaderships have directed that this trade volume should reach dlrs 5 billion in the coming years.
Madbouly made these remarks during a press conference held Wednesday at the New Administrative Capital, where he met with his Algerian counterpart Sifi Ghrieb in the presence of several ministers from both sides.
Madbouly highlighted that the outcomes of the high committee and the business forum contribute to advancing cooperation between the two countries and their peoples, further reflecting the brotherly and historical relations between Egypt and Algeria on all levels.
He also emphasized the implementation of the political leadership’s directives from both countries to elevate these relations in the coming period.
He referred to the important and historic visit made by the Algerian President to Egypt in October 2024, which served as a starting point to activate and strengthen the ties between the two countries.
He noted that there were further directives from the political leaderships to strengthen these relations across all paths, in light of their shared history, present cooperation, and mutual visions on addressing current challenges.
He also pointed out that the current meeting takes place amidst shared and accelerating regional and international challenges that require more consultations, coordination, and integration between the two countries, particularly in terms of economic cooperation, trade relations, and joint investments.
