Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said on Wednesday the State is continuing efforts to release backed-up goods in ports, stressing that the coming period will gradually witness the solution of many problems related to goods that are piling up in ports.
The premier made the remarks during a meeting attended by Major General Bahaa El Din Zidan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Health Technology and Tamer Essam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Medicines Authority.
He said the meeting comes as part of continued follow-up of the availability of medicines and raw materials needed by the drug manufacturing process within the coming period.
Nader Saad, Cabinet spokesman, said the premier directed, during the meeting, the need to enhance local manufacturing of raw materials needed by pharmaceutical factories in the Egyptian market in a bid to reduce imports.
Zidan said coordination was made with the head of the Egyptian Medicines Authority regarding the principles and standards regulating local manufacturing process of raw materials, pointing out that companies that will manufacture these raw materials will get some privileges.
