Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired on Monday the Economic Ministerial Group meeting at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

During the meeting, Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the national economic reform programme, balancing macroeconomic stability with social protection, and supporting sustainable growth led by the private sector. He stressed accelerating the state ownership policy and IPO programme, alongside improving the business climate to attract more local and foreign investment.

The meeting reviewed Egypt’s balance of payments performance for FY 2025–2026, noting a narrowed overall deficit of $1.8 billion compared to $1.9 billion the previous year. Key drivers included higher remittances from Egyptians abroad, a one‑third rise in FDI inflows, stronger tourism revenues, and increased petroleum and non‑petroleum exports.

Discussions also covered Egypt’s accession to the EU Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreement, approved in October 2025, which aims to enhance transparency, simplify procedures, and encourage sustainable investment flows. Officials highlighted the agreement’s role in boosting investor confidence, strengthening Egypt’s regional competitiveness, and opening new channels for technical and financial support.

The meeting further addressed updates on the economic reform programme with the IMF, emphasising continued efforts to reinforce financial stability, encourage private sector expansion, and safeguard strategic reserves of essential commodities amid regional tensions and global trade disruptions.
