CAIRO – Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said on Thursday a detailed list of all needed basic commodities and production supplies will be sent to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to facilitate their import procedures.

Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting with Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea and head of the Federation of Egyptian Industries Mohamed el-Sweidi.

Madbouli said the meeting aims at examining basic commodities and production supplies of top priority that need to be imported from abroad. The meeting comes as part of State efforts to face repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

Gamea said the list, that includes medicines and vaccines in addition to basic commodities and production supplies, was prepared.

Sweidi, on his part, thanked Madbouli for exempting companies failing to fulfill their commitments to government projects on time from two-month delay fines over the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and global supply chain disruptions.

He said the government is keen on maintaining coordination with the business community to offer a package of investment incentives that would contribute to boosting the national industry.

At the end of the meeting, Madbouli underlined the importance of increasing Egyptian exports.
