CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended on Thursday the signing of a joint development agreement to establish and operate a facility to produce green hydrogen with 100 MW capacity in the industrial zone in Ain Sokhna of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
The premier also witnessed the signing of the deal for purchase contract of the hydrogen in the project.
The agreements were signed bringing together the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, Norway’s Scatec company for renewable energy, Orascom Construction company and Fertiglobe company.

The Egyptian Fertilizer Company (EFC) is the fifth party to the second deal.
Under the first agreement, Scatec will build and operate the green hydrogen facility as feedstock for green ammonia production.
