Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, attended on Thursday the General Assembly of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) and the International Research Commercialization Expo (IRC EXPO 2025), currently taking place in the New Administrative Capital under the auspices of the president.
The event is attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir.
A number of ministers, senior officials from Nasser Higher Military Academy, the Military Technical College, and technical research centers of the Armed Forces as well as heads of several Egyptian and international research academies and universities, distinguished professors, the IAP co-chair, and ambassadors and representatives of various foreign countries attended the event.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour was received by Madbouli upon his arrival at the venue of the event.
Hosting this global event by Egypt, represented by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), falls within the framework of the state’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation in science, research, and innovation.
It reflects the country’s growing role in advancing global scientific partnerships and supporting research capacity-building.
This marks the first time that Egypt and the Arab world host the IAP General Assembly, a historic milestone that brings together leading academics, experts, and policymakers from more than 140 scientific academies worldwide. This year’s assembly addresses contemporary issues facing science and society.
During the event, Madbouli listened to remarks delivered by several participants.
ASRT acting President Gina el Feki delivered a speech highlighting the significance of hosting the assembly in Egypt.
She described it as an exceptional event that underscores Egypt’s global scientific standing and its ability to secure the hosting rights amid strong international competition.
A documentary video on state support for the scientific research ecosystem was screened during the event.
On the sidelines of the IAP General Assembly, Egypt, through the ASRT, hosted the 3rd IAP Triennial Conference under the theme “Connecting Science with Policy and Society in the Age of Transformation”.
The conference, held every three years, features broad international participation from national academies and global scientific institutions.
It concludes with a discussion on building scientific systems and strengthening partnerships among government, academia, industry, and philanthropic institutions.
This year’s conference brought together 300 experts and leaders of scientific institutions, 50 international speakers, and 120 international organizations from around 80 countries, making it one of the world’s largest multilateral scientific events.
