The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on Monday held national consultations on Egypt’s pledges to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The consultations were attended by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed and Elena Panova, the UN resident coordinator in Egypt, as well as other officials.
Panova lauded the Egyptian government’s sustained commitment to bringing about SDGs, despite the unprecedented challenges that the country faces.
The UN coordinator said the national consultations comprising various segments of the Egyptian society represent an important step in building consensus on what needs to be done to attain the SDGs.
Assistant Planning Minister for Sustainable Development Affairs Mona Essam reviewed the proposed national pledges to bring about SDGs, stating the framework regulating sustainable development in Egypt depends on Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the General Unified Planning Law.
