CAIRO- Egyptian Planning Minister Hala el-Saeed met Monday with officials from the Egyptian Exporters Association (ExpoLink) to discuss a project to establish an export academy, the first of its kind in Egypt.
The project should be implemented as part of the second phase of the Aid for Trade Initiative for Arab States (AfTIAS), Saeid said.
It should serve as a platform to promote exports and hone skills of cadres, she noted.
The minister added that the strategic goal of that academy should be to form a unified entity concerned with training exporters and providing consultation in Egypt and the region.
This project is meant to guarantee sustainable growth of Egyptian exports that would be allowed access to promising markets, Saeed explained.
It also aims to encourage transformation to VAT exports and to expand the database of exporters to include small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the minister further said.
She added that the academy-to-be should also act to ease measures and create a favorable business climate for exporters.
Saeed touched upon a proposal to have the private sector manage the academy because it is the party concerned with exports.
The government should, in turn, act to support that academy and help it achieve its goals, she noted.
Founded in 1997, ExpoLink is a non-profit private sector association that constantly develops networks with related entities and partners to enhance the export value chain and identify strategic markets to achieve national targets for sustainable economic growth.
It ensures that exporters are equipped with the tools they need to sustainably and effectively navigate in global markets.
ExpoLink provides platforms for exporters to compete with industry players and showcase their competitive edge in potential markets internationally.
