HAMBURG – Egyptian Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Co-operation Rania al Mashat attended the signing ceremony of a 270-million-euro worth grant agreement for establishing a green hydrogen project in co-operation with Germany.

The deal, sealed between Scatec and Green Hydrogen Business Alliance (PtX), is a testament to the fruitful collaboration between the Egyptian Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and German’s Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development.

This came on the sidelines of the the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, organised by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development in co-operation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Michael Otto Foundation for Sustainability, and the City of Hamburg.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy.

The green hydrogen project has drawn global attention as a potential carbon-free fuel of the future, Mashat said.

Egypt’s energy sector, with its abundant renewable energy resources, is well-positioned to lead in green hydrogen production, the minster added.
