CAIRO – Egyptian Planning Minister Hala el-Saeed stressed that the second stage of the Egyptian economic reform programme includes institutional reform measures in some sectors, topped by the energy sector.

The programme also included several legislative and institutional reforms as well as enacting several laws that aim to facilitate measures for establishing projects and incentivise the private sector to take part in implementing ventures, Saeed said.

She made the remarks on Thursday while reviewing the Egyptian economic reform experiment at the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Programme in Boston.

She reviewed the efforts exerted by Egypt to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals under Egypt Vision 2030, noting that the state is proceeding with the successful economic and social reform programme which started in 2016.

She tackled the initiatives being implemented by the Egyptian state to develop the health sector, noting that about LE270 billion were spent on the health sector in the period from (2018/2019-2020/2021) at a 70 per cent rise in comparison with the previous three years.

She referred to the initiatives of 100 million health, detecting malnutrition among students and detecting chronic diseases.

She highlighted the importance of balancing between growing population and available resources.
