CAIRO – Egyptian  Planning Minister Hala El Saeed said the door is open for registering at the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects nationwide via the initiative’s website www.sgg.eg.

In press statements on Monday, she said the initiative falls within the framework of Egypt’s pioneering role in the sustainable development in various governorates.

She noted that the initiative is unprecedented at the international level and focuses on the importance of addressing the environmental dimension and climate change within the context of ongoing efforts to realse sustainable development and digital transformation.

The initiative aims at introducing projects that are applicable in Egypt and address climate challenges.

Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High Level Champion for Egypt, said the future of development became closely related to the state’s capability to manage sustainability policies and commanding technology, especially in the field of digital transformation.

He said the initiative is a pioneering model that is beneficial at the international level as well as in organizing the COP27.

On August 7, Egypt’s official gazette published Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli’s decision to launch the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects nationwide under the supervision of Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Said, and Ambassador Hisham Badr, the coordinator of the initiative.

On August 9, Madbouli assigned Mohieldin as the jury chairperson of the initiative that is responsible for selecting winning projects.
