Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom said that investing in human capital is central to boosting employment opportunities and productivity, noting that it is a top priority in Egypt’s FY2026/2027 development plan and medium-term strategy through 2030 to enhance economic competitiveness.
Rostom made these remarks as he held talks on Tuesday with Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad to discuss ways to bolster coordination between economic and employment policies.
Rostom said that the government is working to link public investments with job creation by directing spending toward productive sectors capable of generating sustainable employment.
The minister stressed the importance of improving labour market data quality to support decision-making.
He highlighted the need for closer integration with the Ministry of Labour to provide accurate and up-to-date insights into market needs.
He also underscored the role of targeted training programmes aligned with real labour demand to improve resource allocation and workforce productivity.
For his part, Minister Raddad reaffirmed the need for continued cooperation to ensure the creation of pool of skilled workforce capable of meeting new investment demands.
He cited training-for-employment programmes and ongoing efforts to enhance decent work conditions in line with Labour Law.
Both ministers highlighted the importance of institutional coordination to expand job opportunities, specifically through applied technology schools and the development of technical and vocational education.
