The urban upgrading programme phase one has been completed and phase two is now underway along with the promotion of job opportunities in unplanned areas in the governorates of Cairo and Giza.
Governor of Cairo Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Giza Ahmed Rashid and Nevin Gamea, CEO of the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises Development Agency attended celebrations yesterday marking progress in the urban upgrade.

Abdel Aal said in a speech to the ceremony that the urban upgrade comes in line with political leadership directives to improve residents’ living standards.
Cairo Governorate pays great attention to developing slums and improving services, including the completion of unsafe area development by end of 2022, Abdel Aal said, adding that this is in accordance with Egypt Vision 2030.
The celebrations are thanks to co-operation between Cairo Governorate and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority on completing the development of unplanned areas Zawia Al-Hamra and Ezbet Khairallah, which now boast better services for 1 million people. The projects were funded with a grant from the French Development Agency and the European Union.

Co-operation with development partners, led by the European Union and the French Development Agency is crucial to sustainable development by benefiting from expertise and funding for our strategic goals.
