CAIRO – Egypt’s medical and pharmaceutical exports have upped by 19.4 per cent in the first three months of 2022, registering 209 million against 175 million in the same period last year.
The Export Council of Medical Industries (ECMI), in a statement Monday, said cosmetic exports rose during the above-mentioned period by 35.3 per cent, recording 134 million dollars against 99 million dollars during the same month last year.
Medical exports hit 26 million dollars from January to March, marking a 23.8 per cent rise in comparison with the same period last year.
Pharmaceutical exports during the same three months amounted to 49 million dollars, at an 11 percent rise in comparison with the corresponding period last year, the statement added.
ECMI Chairman Maged George said exports of the pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic sectors are expected to rise by at least 30 per cent annually.
