Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el Molla has inaugurated a new laboratory for testing samples extracted from gold ores and metal existing in soil and rocks in the Eastern Desert.
The development of the local mining industry is one of the main goals set by the national strategy of upgrading the mining sector, which was launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Molla said.
The minister made the remark on the sidelines of an inspection tour of the mining fields of the Eastern Desert to inaugurate the MSA LAB laboratory.
The inauguration of inclusive examination laboratories for gold ores and basic metals samples found in soil and rocks in Mars Alam city, the Red Sea governorate, contributes to the localization of the mining industry and honing the skills of workers, the minister said.
He added that the Petroleum Ministry will uphold creating an investment-friendly climate alongside supporting the domestic mining industry and boosting its revenues for the national economy.
Meanwhile, Molla attended the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian mineral resources authority (EMRA) and ALS Australia.
