Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi affirmed on Wednesday that the ministry is continuing its intensive efforts to secure the full needs of citizens, as well as the electricity and industrial sectors, for petroleum products and natural gas through integrated coordination with the relevant ministries and state institutions.
He noted that these efforts are being carried out with the support and close follow-up of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli to ensure market stability and meet growing demand during peak consumption periods.
The minister stated that preparations for summer 2026 are progressing in full coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to guarantee the fuel and natural gas requirements of power generation plants.
He stressed that the coming summer season will be secure and free from power outages, highlighting the ministry’s ongoing work to increase domestic oil and gas production, strengthen investor and partner confidence, and encourage international companies to expand investments in exploration and production activities.
These remarks came during the minister periodic meeting with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, held as part of the ministry’s continued commitment to communication and engagement with parliamentary bodies.
During the meeting, the minister listened to the demands and concerns raised by parliamentarians representing various governorates, particularly regarding key services provided by the petroleum sector, most notably the delivery of natural gas to households.
Discussions focused on mechanisms to meet citizens’ needs and overcome any implementation challenges in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Minister Badawi directed the competent departments within the ministry and the petroleum sector to promptly examine and study all requests submitted by members concerning the expansion of natural gas connections to a number of regions and villages.
The meeting also reviewed the ministry’s response to previous parliamentary requests related to natural gas delivery projects, which remain a top priority due to their direct contribution to improving citizens’ quality of life and reducing the state’s subsidy burden associated with butane gas cylinders.
