CAIRO – Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tareq el Mulla had talks with Chairman of the Chandris (Hellas) Inc.,a Greek Ship Management Company, John Chandris, available investment opportunities in the petroleum sector in Egypt.

During their talks, the petroleum minister underlined Egypt’s success in achieving self-sufficiency in natural gas and a surplus that helped in opening up prospects for expansion in value-added industries, the Petroleum Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

Mulla further stressed that many countries consider natural gas the most important fossil fuel in recent years and the best transitional fuel during the energy transition period.

He also referred to the initiative launched by the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) to supply ships with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as an environmentally friendly energy source within the framework of the global trend to preserve the environment and reduce gas emissions.

For his part, Chandris expressed his company’s keenness on investing in projects to establish shipping warehouses for supplying ships with liquefied natural gas within the framework of the forum’s initiative.

He also stressed the importance of the fruitful partnership with the Egyptian petroleum sector, lauding cooperation with the Petroleum Authority in the field of crude oil transportation, in addition to its partnership, through its subsidiary Pyramid Navigation company, with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the Marine Petroleum Services in the Eagle Gas company.
