Minister of Petroleum Tareq el Mulla and Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker have conferred on securing requirements of gas-fired power plants nationwide in the coming period to maintain sustainable stability of the energy sector in Egypt.
The meeting touched on developments on the international and strategic energy markets, mainly when it comes to expanding the use of the new and renewable energy amid a growing global interest in using clean energy to help reduce carbon emissions coming from fossil fuels, the Petroleum Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
Mulla and Shaker said there is full coordination between their ministries to increase the renewable energy component in the energy mix in line with a 2035 integrated sustainable energy strategy.
They agreed to constantly update this strategy to cope with global and domestic changes on the energy markets, and to depend more on renewable energy to generate electricity.
