Civil servants are to be given a raise of up to LE1,000 as of April 13 as part of the state efforts to contain inflation and to lighten the financial burdens on the public, Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet announced on Monday.
This comes in accordance with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi which received parliamentary approval.
The social protection package to support civil servants, and pensioners will cost the state LE150 billion annually, including LE95 billion to increase the minimum wages and Takaful and Karama (Solidarity and Dignity) pensions, in addition to LE55 billion for raising pensions.
