CAIRO – Participants in the National Dialogue’s national identity session underscored the importance of establishing a unified system to raise public awareness about the need of promoting culture and identity.
That came in the second session of discussions of the Culture and National Identity Committee in the societal track of the National Dialogue, held under the title “national identity”.
Assistant Rapporteur of the Committee Ahmed Megahed said the national identity issue is a difficult topic that has a far-flung definition, noting that building the awareness is not the responsibility of a single ministry alone.
A serious challenge facing the development of awareness building is the contradiction involving efforts and directives of different institutions affecting culture and national identity, according to him.
Representative of the “Free Egyptians Party” Ihab el Shahat thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his calls to hold the National Dialogue that will mainly contribute to achieving hopes of all in the homeland.
He proposed the establishment of a national authority to develop the Egyptian personality that will be chaired by the president and includes 14 members from experts in the various spheres.
