CAIRO/BUDAPEST – Parliament Speaker Hanafy Gebaly reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of the Israeli military operation in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
This came in extended talks between Gebaly, who is on an official visit to Hungary, and Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary László Kövér.
Gebaly asserted the necessity of immediately ceasing fire and removing the obstacles facing allowing the humanitarian aid supplies to the Gaza Strip.
The meeting comes to continue the distinguished and historic relations between Egypt and Hungary at different levels, Gebaly said, lauding the progress of bilateral ties in light of the keenness of the leadership of both countries.
He pointed out to the necessity to promote parliamentary ties between the Egyptian parliament and the National Assembly of Hungary, including exchanging legislative expertise and coordinating stances towards issues of mutual interest in the international and continental parliamentary gatherings.
Gebaly welcomed the level of economic cooperation between Egypt and Hungary and reviewed Egypt’s efforts in combating illegal migration.
Meanwhile, Kövér asserted the depth of the Egyptian-Hungarian ties which are based on unified values and basics, lauding Egypt’s role to guarantee regional stability in light of spiraling threats to international peace and security.
He asserted the necessity to activate parliamentary co-operation agreement between the Egyptian and Hungarian parliamentarians to contribute to promoting ties between both countries.
