Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi praised the role Egypt plays in various forums, noting that Egypt “is an important country for the Muslim nation and is known as the gateway to Africa.”
In a video message before heading to Cairo on a two-day official visit, Qureshi said his visit to Cairo aims to strengthen relations with Egypt, adding that there are many opportunities to enhance economic cooperation with Egypt.
Qureshi also said he plans to visit the prestigious Al-Azhar University. He added that the Pakistani government is looking to benefit from the education sector in Egypt and learn from the experiences of this high-level educational institution.
The Pakistani foreign minister, meanwhile, indicated that “enhancing trade with African countries is among the top priorities of our government.” The current government, he added, expressed on several occasions its desire to enrich economic relations with African countries by exploring their markets and increasing economic diplomacy.
