CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi affirmed his support for the expansion of operations of the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), a leading firm in the field of onshore and offshore oil and gas well drilling at the regional level.
The company has achieved tangible successes in both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, he said during the company’s general assembly on Monday.
The Minister stated that the company’s presence in these markets reflects its high efficiency, the excellence of its drilling fleet, and the quality of its human resources. He confirmed the ministry’s support for EDC’s plans to expand into international markets, particularly by strengthening its presence in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and opening new markets in the near future.
The Minister pointed out that the company has strong competitive advantages that qualify it for expansion, most notably its leadership in the local market, extensive experience working with major international companies operating in Egypt, its integrated fleet of onshore and offshore drilling rigs, and its proven success record abroad with major institutions such as Saudi Aramco and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
He stressed the importance of maximizing the value of the company’s assets, especially the drilling rigs, given the company’s growing role in implementing the ministry’s strategic pillars of increasing local production of petroleum resources and enhancing international partnerships. He also emphasized the need to improve human resource efficiency through training and qualification in this highly specialized field, and to prepare and qualify new cadres to support the company’s competitiveness and success.
He highlighted the importance of learning from safety-related lessons to ensure a safe working environment.
Badawi expressed his gratitude to all employees of the company, affirming that human capital is the key to the company’s successful expansion beyond Egypt.
