Cairo- Human rights and better living standards for all are among topics for discussion during a high-level meeting, which opened here on Monday.
The preparatory meeting for the Ministerial Conference for Social Development by member states of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) opened here for the first time under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Other discussion topics include preservation of the Egyptian family and protecting women and children from physical and mental abuse.
Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag is to take over the presidency of the second conference, which will be themed ‘Social Justice and Community Security’.
During Monday’s meeting, the draft agenda and work programme were approved.
The meeting also reviewed a report of OIC Secretary-General and the Executive Director of ICESCO on implementing decisions related to the child issues, marriage and the disabled.
The OIC is the collective voice of the Islamic world to protect and express its interests, while supporting global peace.
