The General Authority for Land and Dry Ports (GALDP) highlighted in a statement yesterday the advantages of the October Dry Port.
Located in the industrial zone of New 6 October City, Egypt’s first ever dry port was opened by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi last year.
The facility was a public and private sector venture.
The statement describes the port as a breakthrough in import-export logistics, easing congestion at seaports thanks to efficient customs procedures.
The dry port, which also offers ample storage facilities, encourages rail freight, thus reducing operating costs and harmful emission.
