CAIRO – Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment Manal Awad received a report from the Central Operations Room at the ministry on the progress of the second day of the 2025 House of Representatives elections the governorates of the first phase as the ministry is following up on in coordination with the operations rooms in all governorates and the main control center of the National Emergency and Public Safety Network.
The minister confirmed that reports received from the operations rooms in the governorates indicated that all polling stations opened on time and that the electoral process has been proceeding smoothly since early morning, with increasing turnout from citizens and no obstacles detected affecting the progress of voting on the second day of the parliamentary elections.
Awad said the ministry is monitoring the electoral process moment by moment inside polling centers in the governorates participating in the first phase of the elections – which includes 14 governorates – and is working to resolve any technical or logistical issues that might hinder the electoral process.
She also noted that ongoing field monitoring carried out by executive bodies in the governorates inside and around polling stations to ensure that directives regarding the provision of comfort for voters, especially the elderly and persons with disabilities – are implemented.
Efforts include preparing waiting areas, facilitating entry and exit, and providing shade and necessary lighting to ensure that the elections proceed in a smooth and safe environment, said the minister.
The ministry is monitoring the efforts of executive bodies in coordinating with security directorates to secure the vicinity of polling stations and with health directorates to provide medical coverage and ambulance teams around the polling centers, ensuring the safety of citizens and all participants in the electoral process, Awad added.
The minister also said the ministry’s Central Operations Room is working around the clock to receive follow-up reports from the governorates and to respond immediately to any field observations in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Awad praised the efforts of local leaders and executive bodies in ensuring that the electoral process proceeds in a manner befitting the Egyptian state.
She further said the smooth conduct of the elections across all governorates is the result of ongoing cooperation and coordination between executive agencies and relevant authorities.
