In a significant financial recovery reflecting the success of its institutional and financial reform plans, the National Investment Bank (NIB) recorded a net profit of nearly EGP 6 billion in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, compared with losses of EGP 31.7 billion in the previous fiscal year.
The figures were announced during a meeting of the NIB’s Board of Directors on Monday, chaired by Planning and Economic Development Minister and NIB Chairman Ahmed Rostom, to review performance indicators and developments related to the bank’s restructuring and its role as a strategic development arm of the state.
The board reviewed progress in resolving financial overlaps with government entities. In June 2026, two framework agreements were signed to settle historic debts dating back to the 1980s, worth more than EGP 196 billion.
The settlements covered subsidiaries of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater and the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development Projects. Further settlements are also underway.
Rostom affirmed the ministry’s commitment to completing the restructuring process and settling all outstanding financial files, stressing that the efforts are being closely monitored by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.
The meeting also discussed the NIB’s future plans, including new mechanisms to finance infrastructure through innovative financing tools and strategic partnerships with the World Bank and other international financial institutions.
