More than 671,000 citizens received medical services through the National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute (NHTMRI) in 2022, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
Some 671,851 patients were served from January through December 2022, said Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
NHTMRI services have been offered at outpatient clinics to 350,000 citizens, Abdel Ghaffar said.
Also 40 liver transplants have been conducted, the spokesman said, adding that 80 per cent of the operations were successful.
Medical services have also been provided for 7,500 citizens who visited the hepatitis viruses unit during the year, Abdel Ghaffar noted.
He made it clear that as many as 2,900 cases have been granted treatment at state expense throughout 2022.
