CAIRO – The Earth’s Climate for Sustainable Development Foundation has launched Climathon Egypt initiative to raise awareness on the climate action nationwide.
The start planned to be from Damietta governorate, followed by Alexandria, and the rest of the governorates, president of the foundation’s board of trustees Saber Othman said.
Earth’s Climate for sustainable Development foundation partnered with the EU Climate Innovation Initiative, as well as a number of partners in order to execute Climathon Egypt Series 2022; a large-scale plan to hold a number of Climathons in many governorates and cities across Egypt in order to reach as many underrepresented locations and groups of people as possible prior to COP27 in Sharm el Sheikh in November.
Climathon is a city-based global climate action program that takes place in many cities around the world under the auspices of the EU.
The program consists of a series of preliminary city-based green events (a marathon, a reforestation campaign, etc.) followed by a local conference and competition. The main objective is to raise awareness on climate action, foster innovation, and empower youth.
