CAIRO – Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) Tarek el-Hobi had talks on Tuesday with Pascal Furth, Head of the Economic department of the French Embassy in Egypt, on means of enhancing bilateral co-operation in the fields of food safety and monitoring of food products as well as exportation and importation measures adopted by the authority.
The talks also tackled means of benefiting from French expertise in developing the monitoring mechanism of local market.
El Hobi underlined the importance of openness to international experiences and supporting strategic partnerships to develop the food safety system in Egypt in line with global standards.
He highlighted the key role played by the authority in enhancing food safety and security in the local market and facilitating the access of Egyptian food products to regional and global markets.
For his part, Furth voiced deep appreciation for the authority’s efforts in developing the regulatory framework for food safety in Egypt.
He asserted that France is ready to deepen co-operation and provide technical support to Egypt in addition to encouraging French investments in the Egyptian food industries sector.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultations on executive steps to bolster joint cooperation.
