Our esteemed readers; welcome to our News Digest.

New Sukuk bill, joint military co-operation with Cyprus, bird flu have made yesterday’s press headlines.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for expedited completion of the first stage of the intelligent transport system and starting the implementation of the system’s second stage, thereby leading to the application of the highest safety standards along the roads that the system covers.

The House of Deputies (Parliament) approved on Sunday, June 6, a new bill allowing government to issue Sharia-compliant sovereign bonds, Sukuk, on local and foreign markets.

Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki and Chief-of-Staff Mohamed Farid met yesterday with the chief of the Cypriot National Guard, Demokritos Zervakis.
The meeting featured a discussion of joint cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.

The Cabinet Media Center denied reports, circulated on social media platforms yesterday, about the presence of new clusters of bird flu’s H10 strain in the country.

It contacted the Ministry of Agriculture twitch also dismissed the reports and described it as baseless and said “it is conducting intensified surveillance campaigns on bird farms and shops and that there is no presence of H10 strain”.

Also yesterday four officials were detained by the Public Prosecution in deadly fire at Cairo juvenile detention center.

The initial investigations, carried out by Police, have put the main cause of the fire at an electrical fire in the television unit which led the area to be blazing.
