The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced new steps to attract investment in Egypt’s mining sector. Minister Karim Badawi held a meeting with the board of the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority, led by geologist Yasser Ramadan, to review current plans. The authority is being transformed into an economic body to strengthen the sector and raise its contribution to the national economy.
The meeting focused on launching a nationwide airborne geophysical survey of minerals in 2026. Minister Badawi praised the Cabinet’s decision to allow the authority to contract with X-Calibur to carry out the survey across Egypt. He described the project as a key step to identify critical minerals and rare elements needed for industry.
The minister stressed that success requires close cooperation among all stakeholders. He called for strict adherence to timelines and for full use of the survey data and results. The meeting also reviewed progress on a new digital portal for mining investment.
The survey is expected to mark a turning point for Egypt’s mining industry, providing vital information to guide exploration and development, and supporting the country’s broader economic growth.
