Disbursement of cash transfers under social protection programmes Takaful and Karama for this month began at post offices nationwide after the addition of 1 million new families in July, the minister of social solidarity announced Thursday .

As per directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the ministry distributed MEEZA national payment cards for new beneficiaries,” Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Kabbag said.

The ministry has formed a joint operation room with the national postal authority to follow up the disbursement.

Five million benefit from income support from Takaful and Karama programme at a cost of LE25 billion to encourage families to keep children at school and provide health care.

The programme is conditional”, meaning that

Households receive a monthly pay-out provided that the children are aged between 6-18 and have an 80 per cent school attendance record.

Mothers with children below the age of 6 must visit a health clinic at least four times a month.
