Egypt is inviting university and institute students to help solve some of the country’s most pressing challenges through technology.
Under the patronage of Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Abdelaziz Konsowa, the Innovators Support Fund (ISF), in cooperation with the Leadership Training Institute, has launched last week SensorX Challenge 2026, the country’s first national competition dedicated to smart sensor innovation.
The competition aims to encourage students to develop technology-based solutions for real-world development challenges while helping transform promising ideas into startups with economic and social impact.
It is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from public, private, technological universities and institutes across Egypt. Applications are available until August 1, 2026.
ISF Executive Director, Tamer Hamouda, said the initiative seeks to strengthen innovation within Egyptian universities and institutes by enabling students to create smart technological solutions for practical problems.
“The competition provides support and incubation opportunities for promising ideas and helps transform them into applicable projects,” Hamouda said.
He added that the initiative supports efforts to connect scientific research with industry and contributes to building a new generation of entrepreneurs in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
According to Hamouda, the ISF’s competitions serve as a platform for identifying talented innovators and providing continued support after the contests end, helping participants turn their concepts into startups that contribute to the knowledge economy.
Director of the Leadership Training Institute, Karim Hammam, described the competition as an opportunity to discover talented students and help convert their ideas into projects that can benefit society while promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
The challenge covers a wide range of priority sectors, including sustainability and the environment, healthcare, smart agriculture, infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, energy, smart cities, water and marine resources, robotics and smart devices.
Participants will compete for prizes and support worth more than LE250,000. The first-place winner will receive LE100,000 along with project incubation support, while second and third place winners will receive financial awards and assistance in developing their projects.
