Shorbagy: Sustained action to promote national press role

The newly-appointed heads of the media and press bodies took the oath of office before the House of Representatives (parliament) during a plenary session House Speaker Hanafy el-Gabali chaired on Sunday.
Under the new formations, Eng. Khaled Abdel-Aziz held the post of chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Eng. Abdel-Sadek el-Shorbagy retained the chairmanship of the National Press Authority (NPA), while journalist Ahmed el-Muslamani took the helm of the National Media Authority (NMA).
After swearing-in ceremony, NPA Chairman Shorbagy called the first meeting with the new members of the authority.
At the outset of the meeting, Shorbagy expressed sincere appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for renewing confidence, pledging to double efforts and intensify work to promote the influential role of national press, taking into account the requirements of the current phase and the priorities of the nation and its citizens.
Shorbagy welcomed the new members of the NPA, expressing his eagerness to work together in the coming period to tackle the crises and challenges facing the national press establishments. During the meeting, the efforts made across all levels in the past few years were reviewed, including financial, editorial, and administrative aspects, as well as key files currently under consideration and those planned for the future consideration.
