Around two million Egyptians have registered to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, nearly 900,000 people have been vaccinated against the virus so far, said Mohamed Abdel Fattah, head of the Central Administration for Preventive Affairs at the Ministry of Health.

In the coming period, all people registered will receive their vaccine shots, Abdel Fattah said, adding that the vaccination pace is advancing as per the Ministry of Health plan.

In a phone call to “From Cairo” TV show on Sky News Arabia channel, he said that Egypt has not recorded any mutation in the genetic strain of the coronavirus, contradicting any arrival of the Indian strain inside Egypt so far.

As governments worldwide are accelerating efforts to vaccinate their people against Covid-19, Egypt’s Ministry of Health has adopted wide vaccination campaigns.

Recently, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minster Moustafa Madbouli have received their first jab of the vaccine, as part of the national campaign to inoculate citizens.

According to the Ministry of Health, obtaining only one dose of the two doses designated does not provide full immunity against the virus, so hurrying to take the second dose is highly requested.
