Executive Director of the National Elections Authority (NEA) Ahmed Bandari said voting operations at sub-polling stations during the runoff round of the second phase of the House of Representatives elections are proceeding smoothly and regularly.

The NEA’s executive director said that work was delayed at only nine polling stations, with delays ranging between 30 and 50 minutes, due to exceptional circumstances faced by the judges presiding over those committees.

Speaking at a press conference held on Thursday, Bandari said that the NEA did not receive any complaints regarding electoral violations related to the second day of voting, except for a number of notifications reporting high voter turnout at some polling stations.

He explained that these stations are located in constituencies considered the hometowns of certain candidates.

The NEA’ s directive added that heads of follow-up committees in the governorates were instructed to closely monitor polling stations witnessing heavy voter turnout, in order to allow timely intervention when needed.

Efforts included deploying reserve judges and additional administrative staff to prevent overcrowding that could disrupt the voting process.
