The National Election Authority (NEA) on Saturday closed the door for receiving candidacy papers for the 2024 presidential election.
Head of the committee receiving candidacy applications Counselor Ahmed Bandari said over the course of 10 working days, the committee received applications from four presidential hopefuls: including, incumbent President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, head of El-Wafd Party Abdel Sanad Yamama, head of the Social Democratic Party Farid Zahran, and head of the People’s Republican Party (PRP) Hazem Omar.
The authority will reveal the initial list of candidates, along with the number of recommendations from members of the House of Representatives, on Monday. Bandari noted.
The committee receiving applications for the 2024 presidential race started on October 5 to work on daily basis from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. But, on Saturday, October 14, the last day for presidential aspirants to register, it remained open until 2:00 PM.
Voting in Egypt will take place on December 10-12 December, with Egyptians abroad casting their votes on December 1-3.
