The National Council for Women in Egypt (NCW) said the rate of representation of women in the judiciary increased in 2022, according to a NCW mid-term review on the National Strategy for Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030.
During a NCW periodical meeting chaired by NCW President Maya Morsi Friday, NCW member Dr. Maged Osman said women’s representation in judicial positions witnessed tangible rise as the number of women judges increased from 80 in 2015 to reach 137 judges in 2022, in addition to some 11 female judges appointed in the Public Prosecution.
Meantime, the report shed light on active women contributions in the parliament and to their community as well as their economic inclusion.
The meeting also reviewed the outcome of efforts of the Egyptian delegation to the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67).
The meeting was headed by the NCW president as she underscored Egypt’s keenness on active contribution to the innovation, technology and education spheres in the digital era, with a view to boosting efforts aimed at realizing gender equality and empowering women, spearheaded by Egypt’s First Lady Entissar El Sisi’s support of issues related to the Egyptian women and girls that gained UN applause.
