The Egyptian Navy received “al-Qadir” frigate of the (MEKO-A200) class after completing the handing over measures in the German city of Bremerhaven to join the Egyptian naval fleet.
The new frigate was built by TKMS company at the German SBN arsenal according to the latest international systems of armament and combat efficiency.
This comes within the framework of strengthening the abilities of the Egyptian Navy and supporting the Egyptian-German military co-operation.
Commander of the Navy Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa raised the Egyptian flag on the frigate which is the third out of four MEKO-A200 frigates contracted between Egypt and Germany.
The frigate is a huge technological addition to the potentials of the naval forces and aims at improving the ability to face the challenges and risks surrounding the region.
