Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced that more than 125 million medical services have been provided to women nationwide through the presidential “100 Million Health” initiatives, coinciding with the International Day of Action for Women’s Health.
The ministry said in a statement released on Thursday that the programmes reflect the state’s commitment to improving women’s health as a cornerstone for strengthening Egyptian families and society.
The ministry added that services included screening more than 25 million women for hepatitis C and providing 68 million services through the Women’s Health Support Initiative, alongside millions of services linked to maternal healthcare, premarital screening and early cancer detection programme.
Assistant Health Minister for Public Health Initiatives Mohamed Hassani said women’s health indicators witnessed significant improvement between 2018 and 2025. Maternal mortality rates declined from 52 to 17 cases per 100,000 live births, while prenatal care coverage rose to 92% and medically supervised births increased to 97%. Family planning usage also climbed to 64%, while hepatitis C prevalence dropped to 0.38%.
