The national strategic warehouses project is a matter of top priority for the Egyptian State, affirmed Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.
The project is being implemented through the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry, added Madbouli during his meeting Sunday with Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali el Moselhi.
The meeting was held to follow up on the executive status of the national strategic warehouses project, which is due to be implemented in several governorates.
During the meeting, Madbouli affirmed that establishing such warehouses comes in line with directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to enhance food security, which is considered one of the pillars of Egyptian national security.
For his part, Moselhi said a study prepared by the ministry showed that there is a need to establish seven strategic warehouses, which will serve a number of governorates.
In coordination with several governors, several plots of land were provided to establish the warehouses, he added.
The ministry started to implement the first phase of the project, which covers the establishment of four warehouses in the governorates in Sharqiya, Suez, Luxor and Fayyoum, he further said.
