The Emigration Ministry said Tuesday that the national committee concerned with Egyptian students abroad convened its fifth meeting to discuss conditions of students in Sudan, Russia and Ukraine.
The meeting also focused on Egyptian students who had returned home in the wake of tensions in those countries. The committee reviewed measures taken to facilitate their transfer from Sudanese, Russian and Ukrainian universities to Egyptian universities.
Assistant emigration minister for communities’ affairs Amr Abbas said the Ministry is exerting utmost effort to reach effective solutions to problems facing Egyptian students abroad.
The Ministry has received many complaints and inquiries from Egyptians studying in Sudan, Russia and Ukraine, Abbas said, assuring that officials are following the situation in each of the three countries around the clock.
“We are seeking to find radical solutions to guarantee safe return of our students from Sudan and their peers in Russia and Ukraine,” Abbas said.
All inquiries by the returnees concerning their transfer to Egyptian universities have been referred to Dr Mohamed Helmy el Ghor, the Secretary of the Council of Private Universities and acting secretary of the Council of Non-Profit Universities, he added.
