The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) received the Nasser fellowship’s participants on Monday.

Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie, head of the SCA, welcomed the young delegations participating in the third batch of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The young people were briefed on the development projects in the Suez Canal zone.

They listened to a presentation on the Suez Canal’s history, development, and importance to the global trade movement.

In addition, they learned more about the statistics and figures of the New Suez Canal.

“We knew more about the role of the new canal on the Egyptian economy and mega national projects, besides its impact on the global trade,” Daria Lliukhina, from Russia, told The Egyptian Gazette.

She expressed her admiration for the Egyptians for digging the new canal themselves.

She added: “I can say that it was one of the best days in the fellowship since it’s one of the most important sea routes globally.”

For his part, Hassan Ghazali, General Coordinator of the Nasser fellowship, thanked the SCA for hosting the youth delegations participating in the fellowship.

“It’s a great opportunity for them to visit the most important navigation facility in the region,” Ghazali added.

The Nasser fellowship builds on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the youth role through providing them with all forms of support and training, in addition to empowering them to occupy leading positions.
