The National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) said in a statement yesterday that it would participate in the social protection plan and provide regular monthly support to 400,000 most-needy families for one year, at a total cost of about LE2.4 billion.
This is in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for expanding the base of beneficiaries of social protection programmes, in addition to preparing a package of exceptional social care interventions that take into account the conditions of the most-needy families, the statement added.
The plan is also part of the ‘Wasal Al-Khair 2’ initiative, within which the alliance aims to serve and care for about 5 million families during the current year and provide all food, health and social aids, in an effort to mitigate the negative impact of the current global economic crisis.
The National Alliance was launched on March 13, 2022, with the participation of major civil and development institutions in Egypt. It works in various fields of development, including health care services, public awareness, education, construction, among others.
The General Union of NGOs, the Decent Life Foundation, the House of Zakat and Charities, the Orman Association, the Egyptian Food Bank, the Misr Al-Khair Foundation, and the Magdi Yacoub Foundation are members of the alliance.
